You have probably noticed by now that we offer lots of new color options when it comes to some amazing products in our line. Most notably, our Skin Double Flawless Foundation in Yellow and Pink, and our newest Advanced Concealer in Warm and Cool.
Why is color so important? Wearing the wrong color, tone or shade of makeup can make your healthy, hydrated skin look sickly and off.
So how do you choose the right color for your skin tone? Here are a few quick tests you can perform in under five minutes, at home in front of a mirror.
The Color Breakdown
Warm-toned women tend to look alive and healthy wearing earthy, organic colors, such as oranges, bronzes, golds, peaches, brick reds, earthy greens, mocha browns and ivory.
You look best in warm-based colors (our Original Yellow Foundation).
Cool-toned women look best in jewel tones such as vibrant emerald green, royal or icy blues, rosy pinks, silvers, plums, and pure white.
You look best in cool-based colors (our Pink Foundation).
The Vein Test
The vein test is an easy, quick way to determine your skin tone. In natural light (during a sunny day, stand by an open window), make a fist and examine your inner wrist.
What color are your veins? Veins that are mainly blue are a sign of cool tones, while green veins are a hint that you are warm toned.
If your veins are a mix of blue and green, you are neutral toned and generally want to go with warmer shades.
The Silver/Gold Test
Warm and cool and gold and silver, sounds like they go hand in hand, don't they?
If you can, find a piece of silver fabric and a piece of gold fabric. Again, stand in front of your mirror in natural light.
Hold each piece of gold and silver fabric next to your face, one at a time. If the silver makes your face light up, you are cool toned. If the gold makes you look fresh and alive, you are warm toned.
We hope this quick read helps you determine which shade you are, and happy shopping!
With love,
Cat XO

Knowing the basics of your colors makes everything SO much easier. Marvelous information to share, kiddo.
And, when you work with teenagers, it is nice to hear you’re “cool” every once & a while… I’ll take it. ;)
Thank you so much for amazing products and tips! Love, love, love Cat Cosmetics!
Thank you for this! I new I was cool or possibly even neutral, while a makeup artist in a high end dept store told me I was warm, I’ve never been warm, except in my heart. :P
Love ya Cat!!
